HPC for Life!
Want to be successful in Life?
- 2nd Law of Thermodynamics: Without external input, Entropy (disorder) increases, or
equivalently, Information is lost.
- Life is fundamentally action against the 2nd Law of
Thermodynamics
- creates order from disorder
- is multigenerational with every new generation a
reset to a low Information state
- To be successful, every generation has to create more
Information than what is lost with the previous generation
- If so, societies evolve to a more enlightened state: as in
science and technology of today
- Transferable skills from the study of HPC
- Einstein: Education is what is left after everything learned
has been forgotten
- Problems in Life are like bugs in the code: finding and
solving them leads to a culture of broader problem-solving
- MPI is a great model for the workplace
- Goal of HPC, Life-long education!
